Garbage

All homeowners on Haida Gwaii participate in the garbage collection service. Collections are made once per week. In the event of a Statutory holiday an alternate pick up day is provided with notice in the newspaper. Two bags per household are allowed in regulation garbage cans.

Extra garbage will be collected only if an additional garbage tag is affixed to the contents of an additional regulation garbage receptacle. Garbage tags are available for $2, purchased at the following locations:

  • Sammy’s Convenience Store, Queen Charlotte
  • Super Valu, Sandspit
  • Port Clements Village Office
  • Masset Village Office
