Elections
Saturday, November 15, 2014 is the next Local Government Election day across British Columbia. This is an opportunity for qualified voters to exercise their democratic freedom in selecting the candidates of their choice for mayors, councilors, regional district electoral area directors, school board trustees and Islands Trust trustees.

The Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District will be holding elections for qualified voters for the following seats postions:
• (1) Electoral Area A (Dodge Cove) Director
• (1) Electoral Area C (Oona River) Director
• (1) Electoral Area D (Graham Island) Director
• (1) Electoral Area E (Moresby Island) Director
NOMINATIONS
Nomination period commences at 9:00 a.m. on September 30, 2014 and closes at 4:00 p.m. on October 10, 2014. Beginning August 22, 2014 nomination packages will be available at the office of the Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District.

QUALIFICATION FOR OFFICE
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
• Canadian citizen;
• 18 years of age or older on general voting day;
• Resident of British Columbia for at least six (6) months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
• Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office.
POLLIING CLERKS
The Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District is accepting applications for polling clerks for the upcoming local government election. Application forms are available for download here.
